While we know that the pandemic has disproportionately affected poor communities and communities of color, we still don’t know what the long-term effects will be on these communities. By improving the way we use data, we can go beyond restoring the pre-pandemic conditions that enabled these disproportionate impacts to an environment that supports equity and mobility from poverty. Community leaders and government officials must commit to leveraging data as critical infrastructure for COVID-19 response and recovery.
